Are you a care home in Bedford?

We offer one to one befriending to older care home residents in Bedford’s care homes who may lack a regular visitor from outside, such as a family member or friend.

We can also work with care homes to encourage connections with schools and colleges, individuals and community groups, and businesses who can provide one off or regular group activities.

Are you a local business or employer?

We know that many employers have fantastic Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes and Friends for Life would like to work with you in this regard. There are lots of options available.

Volunteering

We can explore opportunities for corporate volunteering. Our volunteers tell us that they get just as much out of visiting the resident, as the resident does. For the employee, helping others can reduce stress, combat depression, keep them mentally stimulated and provide a sense of purpose. From a company perspective, it can also help strengthen your company, represents your values, improves employee attraction/retention and builds team building skills.

Sponsorship

To support the growth of the charity and the services we offer we need sponsorship. This could be through sponsoring events (such as a Christmas party), activities (such as providing name badges for our volunteers) or supporting us through fundraising activities (such as bake sale).

If you would like to have a chat about potentially working together, please contact us on hello@friendsforlife.org.uk

Are you a school or college?

We want to facilitate and help schools and colleges build relationships with local care homes to not only enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of residents, but also as an opportunity for children and students to develop valuable life and communication skills and link to the curriculum. There are many ways that we can work with schools and we are always excited to make new links between schools and care homes.

Assemblies and Presentations

We are happy to come in and give talks about Friends for Life, the value of volunteering and help the children and students understand what life in a care home might be like.

Events/Activities

Groups of students visit care homes with a pre-arranged activity for a group of residents (for example, craft activities, singing, music recitals, poetry readings, dance shows, afternoon tea). The possibilities are endless and these kinds of events can bring great joy to residents,

We can support schools and colleges with the logistical and health and safety implications of providing activities and events.

Sponsorship

Charity bake sales, fun runs, and sponsored activities really do make a big difference and also teach children a variety of skills.

If you would like to have a chat about working together, we would love to hear from you so please contact us at hello@friendsforlife.org.uk
