No one should be lonely

Our robo pet campaign aims to donate a robotic cat to each of our Bedford care home residents who would benefit from a pet companion of their very own.

Why robo pets?

Research has shown that the introduction of robotic companion pets are helping to improve the quality of life for older adults as it relates to depression and social isolation. Key findings have shown:

The use of robotic companion cats enhances the well-being and quality of life of individuals with dementia.
Individuals given robotic companion pets showed a significant reduction in agitation and social isolation, improving the quality of life for both patients and their family members.
Companion pets are beneficial to decreasing in the feeling of loneliness.

Our Robotic Companion Pets are purchased through Joy For All who have witnessed the impact of the pets first hand. They report that the pets are hugely beneficial for people living with dementia; people with parkinson’s, the elderly, and anybody suffering from mental health issues.

“We have witnessed patients in NHS Dementia wards who had previously been anxious, frightened, and who tended to wander, suddenly calm down, and start to interact with their new companion. The pressure taken off staff was immediate and made them feel good too.”

Our first generous supporter

We are so pleased to announce that our first pledge comes from Charles Little of Keens Shays Keens – Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors.

Already a friend of the charity, Charles has supported us with this campaign with a generous donation that has allowed us to purchase at least 7 robotic pets!

These have already been ordered and are making their way to Bedford care home residents this week. We look forward to updating you with pictures of these with residents and letting you know the impact these are having on our residents lives.

Robo pets make the news!

Incase you needed any more convincing, here’s Mary with her new robo cat, Tilly.

Each one of the robotic pets that we raise funds for will be gifted to one resident.

Each resident who receives one has the cat as their own pet and so it will be gifted to them to build a connection with.
