Blog post – FFL Board Strategy Day

The Board of Friends For Life, Bedfordshire, met on Saturday 27th July to focus on the charity’s strategy.

While the Board has regular meetings it is useful to take time out to consider longer term plans and ideas to keep the charity moving forward. This is something the Board does every year and is also recommended by the Charity Commission. Later in the year will be another opportunity for the Board to get together, this time joined by the staff, to look at implementation of the strategy and long-term operational goals.

Topics covered on the day include risk, partnerships and wellbeing. The Board heard from a similar charity – Care Home Volunteers – from the Wiltshire area who have recently closed and provided some funding to FFL. Their original Chair Norman Edwards has become an advisor to the FFL Board and he gave us an update on lessons learned by CHV which was extremely well received with an active question and answer session following.

Any strategy day inevitably leads to more work for the Board and the staff team and everyone is enthused and excited to get on with developing our offering in line with the three underlying pillars which are Partnerships; Befriending and Wellbeing.
